Ephesians 6:18 “praying always...in the Spirit, being watchful”
There is a difference between “saying prayers” and “watchful praying”, (Matthew 6:7).
Watchful praying is prayer concerning needs that we see.
Colossians 4:2 “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant (watchful)
1. For ourselves.
a. Concerning temptation..
Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray lest you enter into temptation”
1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the
devil walks about ...seeking whom he may devour”.
b. Concerning the times in which we live.
1 Peter 4:7 “But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be
sober and watchful in your prayers.”
1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 “let us watch and be sober’
2. For others.
a. Those in trying situations.
Ephesians 6:18-19 “praying always....in the Spirit....for all the
saints- and for me”
Colossians 4:3 “praying also for us”
b. Those in spiritual danger.
Hebrews 12:15 “looking diligently lest anyone fall short of the
grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause
trouble” (Deuteronomy 29:18).
