"The Voice Of Experience"

We all have ideas and dreams about what would make us happy. God allowed one man, Soloman, to"have it all" (1 Kings 3:5-13) so that he could tell us what it would be like if our dreams came true. He recorded his experiences in the book, Ecclesiastes.

1.Wisdom and knowledge:
Ecclesiastes 1:12-18 "I set my heart to seek and search out...all that is done under heaven...in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow".

1 Kings 4:29-34 "God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding...he was wiser than all men...men of all nations..came to hear the wisdom of Solomon".

2. Pleasure:
Ecclesiastes 2:1-3,8,10 "I said in my heart..enjoy pleasure..wine..folly..I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure". "This also was vanity!"

1 Kings 11:1-3 "He had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines".

3. Great works:
Ecclesiastes 2:4-6,11 "I made great works... Then I looked on all the works...and all was vanity and grasping for the wind".

1 Kings 5:13,15-16; 6:38-7:1 Solomon had a labor force of nearly 200.000 men for his "great works"! It took seven years to build the temple and thirteen years to build his houses!

4. Wealth:
Ecclesiastes 2:8 "I gathered for myself silver and gold"

1 Kings 10:14-22 "So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches".

His conclusion:
Ecclesiastes 12:1,13"Fear God and keep His commandants"
