“Rest For the Weary”   

Matthew 11:28-31

1. “Come unto Me all:

      a. “who labor (are mentally and physically exhausted)”

           Romans 8:22-23  “The whole creation groans.... we also...groan”

      b. “and are heavy laden” (over burdened)”

           2 Corinthians 5:4 “we who are in this tent groan, being burdened”

           Proverbs 13:15  “The way of the transgressor is hard”

              1) For those who are saved.

                   Psalm 38:4 “My iniquities have gone over my head; like a

                     heavy burden they are too heavy for me”

              2) For those unsaved. John 3:36  “the wrath of God abides on him”

      c. “I will give you rest”

            1) For those who are saved.

                1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to

                   forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”

             2) For the unsaved.

                 Isaiah 53:6  “the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all”      

2. “Take My yoke upon you”

    a “learn from me” (The yoke of discipleship)

       1 Peter 3:18 “grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior

          Jesus Christ”

    b. “My yoke is easy “  (The yoke of service)

         Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ                      Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we                       should walk in them.”

    c. “My yoke is easy and my burden is light”.
