“Further Fallout From The Red Sea Crossing”

Joshua 2

Review:

1. It was for the benefit of the Egyptian people. Exodus 14:18 “Then the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.”

2. It prevented the Egyptian army from forcing them back into slavery. Exodus 14:28 “Not so much as one of them (the Egyptian army) remained.”

3. It strengthened their faith in the Lord and in Moses as His servant. Exodus 14:31 “..so the people (Israel) feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.”

Further results:

4. It weakened the resistance of their enemies. Joshua 2:10 -11 “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you....And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you”

5. It brought Rahab the harlot to faith in the God of Israel which demonstrated God’s grace to all who believe.

Joshua 2:11 “..for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven and on earth beneath.”

Hebrews 11:31 “By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she received the spies with peace”

Matthew 1:1 - 5 “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ....and Salmon begot Boaz of Rahab...” (Rahab was the great, great grandmother of King David!)
