“If we live in (by means of) the Spirit, let us also walk in (by means of) the Spirit” (5:25).“You who are spiritual” (6:1).
A spiritual Christian is one who has been born of the Spirit and whose life is yielded to the control of the Spirit. Paul mentions three practical ways in which spirituality manifests itself:
1. Concern for fallen Christians:
“If a man is overtaken in any trespass...restore such a one” (6:1).
“In a spirit of meekness (gentleness)”
(Contrast Galatians 2:11-14)
“Considering yourself lest you also be tempted”
2. Concern for burdened Christians.
“Bear one another’s burdens” (6:2)
1 Thessalonians 5:14
3. Concern for our personal responsibilities.
“For each one shall bear his own burden (phortion)” (6:5).
2 Thessalonians 3:10-12; 1 Timothy 5:8
“Sow to the Spirit”
“Therefore , as we have opportunity, let us do good to all” (6:10).
