Mothers who succeeded in perilous times:

A. Jochebed , mother of Moses.

Exodus 1:1-22

1:14 “They made their lives bitter with hard bondage..”

1:22 “..Every son who is born you shall cast into the river..”

Exodus 2:1-11

2:2 “..she hid him three months.”

2:3 “..she took an ark ...put the child in it..”

2:11 “..when Moses was grown, he went out to his brethren..”

Hebrews 11:23-28

11:23 “By faith Moses..was hidden three months by his

parents...they were not afraid of the king’s command.

11:24 “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to

be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.”

11:26 “..for he looked to the reward.”

11:27 “By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of

the king...he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.

B. Hannah, mother of Samuel.

1 Samuel 1:1-28

1:10 “And she was in bitterness of soul and prayed to the

Lord..”

1:13 “Eli thought she was drunk.”

1:20 “Hannah conceived and bore a son and called his name

Samuel..”

1:24 “When she had weaned him, she took him...to the house

of the Lord..”

2:12 “The sons of Eli were corrupt...did not know the Lord.”

3:1 “The boy Samuel ministered to the Lord.”

3:19 “So Samuel grew and the Lord was with him
