Is The Church Defeated?

2 Thessalonians 2:3 “..the falling away comes first..”

1 Timothy 4:1 “..in the latter times some will depart from the faith..”

2 Timothy 3:1-5 “..having a form of godliness..”

B. Christ’s statement regarding His Church. (Matthew 16:13-20)

1. The promises concern His church, not organized Christianity.

Matthew 16:18 “..I will build My church..”

Acts 20:28 “..the church of God which He purchased with His

own blood.”

2. He is the foundation upon which His church is built.

“..you are Peter (petros), and upon this rock (petra), I will build My church”

1 Corinthians 3:10-11 “For no other foundation can anyone lay

than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 2:19-20 “..having been built upon the foundation of

the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the

chief cornerstone”

3. He is the builder of His church.

“..I will build My church”

Acts 2:47 “..And the Lord added to the church daily those who

were being saved.”

1 Corinthians 12:13, 18 “..God has set the members, each one of

them, in the body just as He pleased.”

4. He is the protector of His Church.

“..and the gates of hell (hades) shall not prevail against it.”

Matthew 28:19-20 “..I am with you always, even to the end of

the age.”

HIS CHURCH IS ALIVE AND WELL!
