“Experiencing The Birth Pangs”

Romans 8:18 - 25

18:22 “For we know that the whole creation groans and labors in birth

pangs..”

1. The reason for the “birth pangs”.

a. 8:20 “For the creation was subjected to futility..”

Ecclesiastes 1:2-3 “..all is vanity”.

8:21 “..the bondage of corruption (decay)..”

The great civilizations of the past have come and gone and the great

cities of the past lie in ruins. All of their aspirations and efforts were

in vain because of the “bondage of corruption (decay)”.

b. 8:23 “..even we ourselves groan within ourselves..”

Our bodies still suffer from the bondage of decay and we also groan.

2. The completion of the birth pangs.

a. Creation:

8:21 “..the creation itself will be delivered from the bondage of

decay into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”

Creation will finally be set free from the futility of the bondage of decay.

b. 8:23 “..we groan..eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.”
