“That the man of God may be perfect (artios, complete, fresh, “with it” now), thoroughly prepared (ekartidso, ready now) for every good work” (3:17). (Psalm 92:12-15).
What is the, “that”, which keeps us fresh and ready?
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God (theopneustos, “God-breathed”) and is profitable......that the man of God may be “artios”, “ekartidso” for every good work”.
It is profitable for:
1. “Doctrine”
The Bible protects us from being deceived by “evil men and imposters” (1:13; 3:13). It gives us the truth about God, creation, sin, salvation, death, heaven, hell, etc.
2. “Reproof”
The Bible reproves and warns us when we go astray. (4:2).
3. “Correction”
The Bible sets us straight again. (1 John 1:9).
4. “Instruction (training) in righteousness”
We learn to think and act in accordance with God’ word.
Are we profiting from God’s word?
