David’s Attitude Adjustment”

Psalm 131:1-3 “Surely I have calmed (equalized, leveled, adjusted) and quieted my soul..”

David had “adjusted” his attitude in three areas:

1. His heart attitude.

131:1 “Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty.”

2 Samuel 6:12-22 “And I will be even more undignified than this

and will be humble in my own sight.”

1 Timothy 3:6 “Not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall

into the same condemnation as the devil.”

David had spent ten years running for his life from Saul. He had

learned to totally depend upon God for his safety.

2. His mental attitude.

131:1 (b) “Neither do I concern myself with great matters, nor with

things too profound for me.”

Romans 12:3 “..not to think of himself more highly than he ought to

think..”

1 Corinthians 2:26-29 “..not many wise according to the flesh..are

called”

Colossians 3:23 “And whatsoever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord

David had learned to trust God to take care of the “great and profound”.

3. His emotional attitude.

131:2 “Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child

with his mother..”

Psalm 3 “I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me..”

A weaned child no longer has a panic attach when he feels hunger pangs. He has the ability to express his needs. David had learned to

ask God to meet his needs.
