“Circumstances Chosen By Christ For His Birth”  (2)

Luke 1:26 - 56

The one chosen to be His mother.

Luke 1:26 - 56   “The angel Gabriel was sent....to a virgin betrothed to

a man named Joseph....the virgin’s name was Mary.”

It is important to understand that there was another “mother and child”

who were worshiped in the pagan world as the  “queen of heaven and

her miracle born son”. In ancient Babylon they were known as                     “Semiranus and Tammuz” and mentioned in Jeremiah 7:16-18; 44:15-19

Ezekiel 8:14. In Egypt they were known as “Isis and Osirus”; in Rome,

“Venus and Cupid”; in Greece, “Aphodite and Bacchus”; in India,                “Devaki and Crishna”; and in Asia, “Cybele and Deoius”. It was vitally

important that the one chosen to be the mother of Jesus could in no way

be confused with the “queen of heaven” of the pagan world.

   1. Her humility.

       a. She considered herself to be a “nobody” (certainly not a “queen”)

1:38  “Then Mary said, ‘Behold the handmaiden of the Lord”

1:48  “For He has regarded the lowly state of His handmaiden”

       b. She acknowledged that she was a sinner.

1:47  “My spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior

   2. Her faith.

       a. 1:38  “Let it me to me according to Your word”

       b. 1:45  “Blessed is she who believed”

Beginning in 1917, a woman has been making supernatural appearances

to different people around the world who claims to be Mary. It is very

important to remember these facts about the true Mary in order to keep

  from being deceived.
