1. The cause.
a.. 8:20 “The creation was subjected to vanity (futility)”.
Ephesians 4:17 “you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind”
2 Peter 2:1, 17-19 “they speak great swelling words of vanity”
b. 8:21 “the bondage of decay”.
Genesis 3:17 “Cursed is the ground for your sake”
2. The cure.
a. 8:20 “the creation was subjected to vanity, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope”.
b. 8:21 “because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the glorious liberty of the children of God”.
3. This cure will come in two phases.
a . 8:19 “the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God”.
Revelation19:11-16; 20:6 “Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called faithful and true...and the armies of heaven, clothed in fine linen...followed Him on white horses...and they shall reign with Him a thousand years”.
Isaiah 65:25 “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox...they shall not hurt nor destroy”.
b. Revelation 21:1 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away”.
