Psalm 84 was sung by Jews who were going up to Jerusalem to worship.
A. vv. 1-3 express the heart attitude of those who desire a relationship
with God. (“My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God”)
v. 5, “Blessed is the man whose heart is set on the way (fellowship with God). (Jeremiah 31:21).
B. vv. 4-12 describe the blessings of those who have the same heart desire.
1. v. 4, “they will still be praising You”.
2. v. 5 “whose strength is in You”
v. 7 “They go from strength to strength” (2 Corinthians 4:16-17).
v. 11 “The Lord will give grace and glory”
3. v. 6 “they make it (the Valley of Baca) a spring”
John 7:37-38 “out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”.
Acts 16:16-25 “at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God”
4. v. 6 b. “the rain also covers it with pools”
Acts 16:25:-34 “and the prisoners were listening to them....he (the
jailer) rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household”.
5. v. 12 “Blessed is the man who trusts in You”!
