“Blessing That Are Called ‘Precious'”

1 Peter 1:1-21

1. Our “tested and proven” faith.(1:5-8).

“You have been grieved by various trials (peirasmos), that the genuineness (dokimion) of your faith, being much more precious than gold....may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ”. “Though now you do not see Him, yet, believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory”

2. Our Savior. (1:18-21; 2:6-8).

“you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver and gold ....but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish” (1:18-19).

“I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious,” (2:6).

3. Our promises (2 Peter 1:1-4).

“By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises”:

1 Peter 1:3-5
a. “has begotten us again to a living hope”
b. “to an inheritance ...reserved in heaven”
c. “kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (the redemption of our body).
