A. "And whatever you do, do it heartily (3:23)"
God is not only concerned about our actions; He is also concerned about our attitude.
1. Our speech.
"Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt (4:6;)"
Ephesians 4:29 "that it may impart grace to the hearers"
2. Our singing.
"Singing with grace in your hearts (3:16)"
Psalm 33:1-3 "Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy "
3. Our love for one another.
"Above all these things put on love (3:14)"
1 Peter 4:8-9 "Above all things have fervent love for one another...be hospitable to one another without grumbling"
4. Our giving.
2 Corinthians 9:6-7 "God loves a cheerful giver"
5. Our employment.
"Servants, obey in all things your masters...in sincerity of heart (3:22)"
B. A proper motive produces a proper attitude. We must ask ourselves, "Why am I doing this"?
Hebrews 13:15-16 "do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased"
We can only do what we do heartily (with the right attitude) if our motive for doing it is to please God, out of gratitude for what He has done for us!
