"Take Another Look"

Luke 7:36-50

"One of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him" (7:36).
"A woman in the city ...stood at His feet behind Him weeping" (7:37-38).

1. Simon, the Pharisee, looked at the woman’s outward appearance and judged, "she is a sinner" (7:39).

2. Christ looked at her with compassion and saw her as one responding to His invitation,"Come unto Me, all who labor and heavy laden" (Matthew 11:28).

3. "He said to Simon, "Do you see this woman" (7:44)?
"Her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for (so that) she loved much" (7:47; 7:50, "Your faith has saved you").
a. "you gave Me no water for My feet , but she has washed My feet with her tears" (7:44).
b. "You gave me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet" (7:45).
c. "You did not anoint my head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil" (7:46).

4. There those today that we need to look at with compassion.
a. There are many today who are "heavy laden". Sin and its consequences has become a heavy burden and they are desperately looking for rest. Do we see them?
b. Many of them have great potential. (Why else would Satan give them so much attention?)
1). Matthew and Zacchaeus were considered sinners because they were tax collectors for Rome but many tax collectors and sinners came to Christ because of them (Mark 2:14-15).
2). The Samaritan woman who met Christ at the well was used to bring many Samaritans to Christ (John 4:39).
