“Stand in the ways and see” (6:16)
1. The way of greed.
“Everyone is given to covetousness (6:13)”
“Their houses are full of deceit: therefore they have grown rich” (5:27).
“Will you steal, murder...swear falsely” (7:9-10).
The results of following that way:
“Shall I not punish them for these things” (5:29).
“They shall eat up your harvest...they shall destroy your cities” (5:17).
2. The way of following idols.
“They have gone far from Me and have followed vanities (idols)”(2:5).
“The prophets prophesied by Baal” (2:8).
“Will you....walk after other gods” (7:9)
The result of following that way:
“How can you say,...I have not gone after the Baals? See you way in the valley....you are a swift dromedary (she-camel)....a wild donkey (out of control)” (2:23-25).
“You said, ‘There is no hope...after them I will go” (controlled by demonic spirits). (2:25; 1 Corinthians 10:20 “the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons”).
“They have built the high places...to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire”(7:31).
3. “Ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it” (6:16).
“I remember you, the kindness of your youth, the love of your betrothal, when you went (followed) after Me” (2:2; Exodus 19:3-8).
