"Dealing With Crisis Situations"

11 Chronicles 20

God's remedy for Israel's crisis situations:
"If disaster comes upon us....we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to you in our affliction, and You will hear and save" (20:9).

Judah's crisis situation during Jehoshaphat's reign:
"A great multitude is coming against you...and they are in En Gedi" (20:1-2).
How did they deal with the situation?
1. "Jehoshaphat feared...set himself to seek the Lord...proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah" (20:3).
2. "From all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord" (2:4).
3. They focused their attention upon the greatness of God instead of the the greatness of their crisis: "Are You not God in heaven and do You not rule over all kingdoms...is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You" (20:6).
4. They were specific in "casting their care upon Him", "Here are the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir....coming to throw us out of Your possession" (20:10-11).
5. They acknowledged their dependance upon God; "We have no power against this great multitude...nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You" (20:12).
6. By faith they went out to face the enemy without fear, "And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa" (20:20).

The results:
"The Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir" (20:22; 2 Samuel 5:24).
"So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude, and there were dead bodies fallen on the earth. No one had escaped....they were three days gathering the spoil"(20:24-25).

God's remedy for our crisis situations:
"Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may...find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).
